Materials to be arranged for Krishna Pooja

  • Krishna's Idol: Get a small metal or stone idol (under 5 inches preferred). If unavailable, use a photo of Shreekrishna.
    Ganesha's Idol: Perform Ganesha pooja first. Use an idol, photo, or simply place a coconut on a rice-filled plate.
  • Stool/Stand (Peetham): Place the Krishna idol on a decorated stand covered with a cloth. Use a brass/copper plate under the idol.
  • Naivedyam: Offer Prasadam or any food, such as sweets, fruits, or any decent food.
  • Pooja Plate: Include:
    • Sandalwood powder (Chandan) or Ashtagandha
    • Raw rice (Akshatam) colored with turmeric
    • Turmeric, kumkum, flowers, Doorva (if available)
    • Incense sticks, camphor, and a Janayu (three-stranded cotton thread)
    • Betel leaves and areca nuts
    • A Shankh, if available.
  • Vastram (Optional): Offer any clothing to Shreekrishna, either plain cloth or any style.
  • Panchamrutham (Optional): For Abhishekam, gather in small bowls:
    • Milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, and cut fruits.
  • Tulasi Leaves: Collect at least 120 tulsi leaves (108 for archana, the rest for pooja).
  • Vessels: Use copper, brass, silver, or steel:
    • Spoon, glass, water pot, pooja bell, oil lamps, Aarti plate, and rangoli.
  • Setup: Sit on a mat or wooden slab in front of the idol, light the lamps, and keep your materials within reach. Place your spoon, glass, and water pot to your left, and pooja materials to your right. A plate to pour water in your front.

    Start the fulfilling pooja

    Once everything is set, you may begin the pooja. The pooja consists of ritualistic actions accompanied by mantras. You don’t need to memorize the mantras as we have provided audio guides. Clear instructions are given for each step of the process.
